Reminder and your weekly check-in post

Reminder first:

ARTISTS' SIGN-UPS IN THE MONTH OF MAY!

Oh c'mon, admit it, you've been dying to spend three months drawing Bodie's right eyebrow, we ALL know it. :D

LOOK FOR THE SIGN-UP POST IN JUST A COUPLE OF DAYS!

As to you writerly types, it's that time again, time to brag about how smart and talented your story is, how well it's doing in school... well, at least it's well mannered... or has a face only you could love.

CONFESS ALL!

beautiful

I confess that I am not going well with the writing even though I know what I want to write. But there is still time. ::eyes deadline in nervous manner::

*hugs you*

That said, Yay!!! for knowing what you want to write! You do indeed still have time and the words will come. Until they do, there's always chocolate and alcohol (also Swiss rolls if you want to entice 3.7 round.)

[identity profile] halotolerant.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
I have 1,000 words now, which is more than no words? I need to buckle under and get a few more out though.

*cracks neck, assumes writing pose*

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
Woohooo! for your 1000 words!

*massages your shoulders*

[identity profile] halotolerant.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! *g*

Getting started is the key, because once I've dumped the lads in the situation I've written for them, I feel like I have to then write them to their conclusion otherwise I feel guilty.... Even if it's only getting them a cup of tea!

Ohh... the months are going too fast, I didn't notice it was nearly May!
Good news, one of my stories is over the ten thousand word limit! Woo hoo! Unfortunately the other is only um... three thousand. Hmm, are two stories too much?
Looking forward to seeing the artist list!

Well,... I moved. Now I have to unpack. LOL, *sigh*.

I was thinking about the story the other day (in the middle of shifting boxes). It's one of those things that you severely doubt while in the middle of it, and then come back to it and it's not the horror you thought it was. (Not clean, shiny, and complete by any means, but not horrible. At least salvageable.)

I think I need someone to read it. The someone in mind may be too booked right now, and I haven't reached out to the regular betas yet (oiks, what am I thinking), but some input / ideas-bouncing wouldn't be bad.

And - I did figure out at least the general form of the ending. It's partially on paper, and partially still in my head. ;-)

But it's almost May, and I will have to start getting serious about putting this together. There are three "phases," and these phases are going to fit with each other, or my name isn't golden_bastet. :nods, though acknowledging the pseudonym bit:

BTW - the 2013 story was inadvertently deleted on AO3 (not by me), and the mods there say they can't restore it. Do I just give you guys the new link once I've put it back up?

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooh, I totally understand that. I get the same way about some of my pictures. So long as the boys end up in much the same condition as when I started playing with them, all is well with the world. Okay, maybe they'll be a tad more bruised and assuredly a bit wiser, if not totally exhausted (but still very pleased with themselves,) but, generally, in their original condition. :-)

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Ten thousand words! That's EPIC progress!!!

*hugs the little story and tells it its time will come*

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! for having completed your move *and* for having a salvageable story that's just in need of a bottle of Brasso, a Brillo pad, and some serious elbow grease! (I'll bet it'll come up LOVELY.)

[identity profile] dawnebeth.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I managed to write on Monday and crossing fingers that I can write today. The story is slowly taking shape as i write, but I'm in the period of constant mild panic about it that I get every year because of my inability to outline. I'm always sure that the story will never be finished and there will be dangly bits all over. I overcome this and did manage to sort of plan the next couple scenes.

Time to write....The deadline looms!

*Hugs you for having no words and provides you with a nice new turnip*

(Just let me know if you'd have preferred Doyle in manacles...)

Yay! for writing on Monday, and for having a good track record of delivering your stories despite dangly bits and the lack of outlines!

The Bodie stoat will now perform a trick to distract you from the panicking.

He's an excellent distraction! I've written most of a page in the last half hour.

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh! That's excellent! Well done, you!

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooh! Icon!love!

One can never have enough turnips. #trufact

[identity profile] dawnebeth.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
to a turnip? Yes, please, Doyle in manacles would be my cup of tea.

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Oi! Who said you could stop writing? Get back to that notebook, you! :-)

[identity profile] dawnebeth.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean I have to put him into manacles meself? slave driver.

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-04-30 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes you just have to suffer for your art. Or rather, Doyle does. Anyway - keep writing.

well, you do know how to inspire a girl--now I want to write a completely different story.

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-05-01 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! You've started your story, so now you have to finish it or the Bodie stoat will be sad.

[identity profile] sc-fossil.livejournal.com 2015-05-01 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
I've written a bit since last check in, but not nearly enough. I need to get to it! My word count is probably useless since I'll need to edit a lot, as I usually need to do. Its at 16,000 plus a few more. So we'll see what happens!

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-05-01 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
16000 words is a stoatally FABULOUS amount (even if you do have some editing to do) so WELL DONE and keep up the good work!

[identity profile] sc-fossil.livejournal.com 2015-05-01 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I have a busy summer so I'm trying to finish the first draft so I have plenty of time to rewrite what needs to be beaten into shape.

[identity profile] loxleyprince.livejournal.com 2015-05-01 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds like excellent forward-planning.

[identity profile] sc-fossil.livejournal.com 2015-05-01 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
You could write a story with whips instead. *beg*
