Weekly check in post!

A big hello and welcome to our latest check in post.

Thought I would start this post with links to a couple of sites that have some great stuff on them:

Internet Movie Car Database – Professionals section

Internet Movie Firearms Database – Professionals section

Next, as it is a Monday and we all need pretty things on a Monday, a few pics for you:

And lastly, as always, let us know how you are getting on in the comments, whether you are thinking, planning, plotting, writing, beta-ing, editing, cheerleading, or, like me, just waiting eagerly.

EDIT: In the comments [livejournal.com profile] golden_bastet linked to the seven point system which looks really interesting.

*g* You do know that in order to write something you must first open the file, right? I've had days where I opened the file first thing as soon as I sat at my computer... and then didn't look at it all day. lol Not sure which is worse.

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! It's so good to be able to discuss your story with someone you can bounce ideas off and brainstorm with, isn't it?

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Typos are sneaky little buggers. Very hard to catch all of them. It's always a good idea to leave a story alone for a couple of weeks and then come back to it. A bit of distance helps tremendously.

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
*g* I know what that's like. It's difficult to leave a story alone once you're finished it. You'll just have to distract yourself by writing something else. ;)

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You really shouldn't have ordered that side of crushing doubt. It's a bit off. ;)

You've got three and a half months - I'm sure you'll get it done on time. *shakes pom poms*

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
You're doing well! I'm sure your beta is going to tell you it's brilliant and get writing because she wants to read more! You can do it! *cheers*

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I found this big bang rather challenging to get into as well. I'm sure you'll be better once you've had a chat with your beta(s). That always helps to motivate.

I'm sure you'll get it done well in time!

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I killed my brain, though. *g* All I could do was sit and veg yesterday. Definitely back on track though and feeling ever so much happier!

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty amazed myself, to be honest. I had serious doubts about whether I'd actually make it for a while.

Whumping Doyle is most definitely a good option.

psst, you up for a Brit-check for me once I get the rough draft wrangled?

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm actually pretty dumbfounded that I managed that. Thank God for surf competitions! *g* (hubby was caught up watching the surf competition so he wasn't distracting me by talking to me *g*)

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I was bound and determined I'd get the rough draft done at least this weekend so I'm pretty chuffed I actually managed it.

*nods* You catch all sorts of stupid little mistakes when you give your eyes a break from the story for a while.

Well, I remembered last year how I finished my story super early, and then was very antsy to post well before it was time to post... so I figured doing some art would be a good way to distract me. *g*

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay for feeling smug! It's a good feeling to have (and counters the 'it's all crap' feeling very well).

Nothing's going to go wrong, I'm sure.

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Forward progress is good, even 200 words. I'm sure you'll get the story done well in time... you still have almost three weeks!

[identity profile] moth2fic.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so - and I'm busy with a story (only half the length, thank goodness) for another story exchange (LotR) so I'll concentrate on that and come back to Pros 'refreshed'!

[identity profile] moth2fic.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Your beta is going to take it away with her to read under the orange trees so it will get a golden glow...

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, you're writing an LOTR story? What pairing? You'll definitely be refreshed for the Pros story after that.

[identity profile] moth2fic.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a response to a request on a story exchange and is a threesome - Aragorn/Boromir/Faramir (yes, I know) in an AU where Boromir survives. It's just back from my beta and needs loving care and attention... Whereas Pros just need proofreading. LOL!

If you're interested it will probably reach AO3 after the exchange but you'd maybe need to friend me to check.

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Loving care and attention... aka heavy edits and revising? *g*

Hmmm, threesomes which I don't care for and incest which is a squick... I think I'll pass. ;) (but I'm glad Borry is surviving in your story) But if you ever write something in LOTR that doesn't have those two things - let me know. I enjoy your writing.

[identity profile] marjorammax.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
There's already an idea buzzing round my head for a sequel. I'm just letting it percolate quietly in the background for a while. :)

[identity profile] liriel1810.livejournal.com 2012-06-11 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay for buzzing ideas! Percolating is a very important stage. *nods*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2012-06-12 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Some day I'll finish a challenge early, but this will not be that year. Heck, it may never be that year. I always make my deadlines, but usually by the skin of my teeth.

Good for you finishing your draft when you meant to.

[identity profile] msmoat.livejournal.com 2012-06-12 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, but I haven't actually got a month--only about two and a half weeks. Ack! *g* Still, 1200 words a day...That might be doable!

[identity profile] moth2fic.livejournal.com 2012-06-12 09:29 am (UTC)(link)
That's what happens when you agree to write to a request - it was so detailed it almost gave me the skeleton plot!! And she was adamanat about the threesome and the incest so I've obliged! LOL! It's not my usual 'style' but I hope the writing is my norm.

Not heavy edits, but a lot of stupid things like extra spaces to sort out, and some explanatory bits to add - I tend to assume my readers are mind readers...

Then back to Pros! *g*

[identity profile] margaret-r.livejournal.com 2012-06-12 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, tried to reply to saintvic and ended up replying to you! Hope I haven't caused too much confusion! Also hope the golden glow works ...:P Maybe it will gloss over the inadequacies *g*
