Summary: So that was it, Ray thought. Bodie was an unstable loner who wanted no-one and that nobody wanted
Ray Doyle is not best pleased by his CI5 partner assignment, but determined to make the best of it – it’s his career after all. And as the years pass, he grows pretty accustomed to Bodie after all. In fact, maybe too accustomed.
Getting to know someone, all of someone, can be more than painful, it can be friendship-breaking, and when a sudden tragedy exposes a whole new side to Bodie's secrets, Ray isn't sure he can cope with what Bodie’s been keeping secret, or with the fact that Bodie did keep it secret, all these years.
Trying to help someone desperately vulnerable, struggling to deal with his feelings, can Ray work out whether this partnership has finally reaching breaking point? And if so, where do they go from here?

Date: 2012-10-09 08:18 pm (UTC)I'm only able to use words which are mostly opposed to each other in their meaning, there is no other way for me to describe it.
Btw it was the scene with Bodie drinking milk and Doyle thinking about Cornflakes which had me in tears nearly, and I don't understand it at all. I don't understand the way you are writing, and why you are able to talk about deep emotions when you are writing about milk. But I know it's great.

Date: 2012-10-10 10:51 am (UTC)I'm delighted that you enjoyed the fic. I was trying to get a lot of different emotions across and hoping I'd make them convincing - or even just make sense! *g* With the thing with the milk - I think sometimes what makes really big feelings so hard to deal with is that they happen under such mundane circumstances - you can have a tragedy, but you still need groceries. That's the sense I was aiming for, and if it worked that's fabulous.
Thank you again *g*

Date: 2012-10-11 06:41 am (UTC)I really enjoyed the story - spread out over four reading periods, I was always keen to get back to find out how things turned out. I do get that depth of sadness from Bodie, although from canon I am often not sure why - you explained beautifully, thank-you.
And the art was great - interesting, original and in character - good job.

But nonetheless I enjoyed it immensely!
I've already told Rain how fantastic her art is.
Thank you both!!! :-)
