Title: The Morning Gift
Author: [livejournal.com profile] moth2fic
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] artconserv
Archive to Pros Lib: yes
Genre: slash
Characters/Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Word count: 31,209
Warnings: AU (early twelfth century)

Summary: Raedwolf, a Saxon, is brought up in a Norman household by his brother-in-law. Giles goes on crusade, leaving Rae as castellan. This is unusual for a Saxon but Rae will both protect his family and oversee the building of Giles’ new castle at Winterton Cowley. Then Guillaume le Beau arrives with news from Giles and stays to help Rae train the men-at-arms.

Notes: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] margaret_r for the painstaking beta and especially for making sure I sorted out the fight scene. Thanks also to [livejournal.com profile] damerelfor advice on aspects of the AU. And thanks to Lorraine for the beautiful artwork! Thanks, too, to the mods who have made this year's Big Bang as exciting as ever and have supervised us so well!

There is a quasi-historical note at the end of the fic for anyone who is interested in such things.

Fab to see this story up. Can't wait to read it.

""I'll drop you an email about embedding the art.
I would also be interested.
Could you please explain it here, if it's not too long? :-)

To get your art embedded, you'll need to know the web location of the picture, and then put it in IMG tags. Since if I use the actual code in this tag, LJ will just try to add an image, I'm going to use LAB for left angle brackets and RAB for right angle brackets

LABimg src="URL of picture location"RAB

If you need further help with this, just drop me an email.

Ah!
I think Photobucket for example offers those codes.
I suppose the seize of the original picture should fit into a A4 page?

Thank you!

I usually try to keep pictures to around 500 pixels in width for posting online. If you have something larger, you can use height and width attributes inside the IMG code to resize it, but then you have to make sure you keep the aspect ratio of the two things the same. (You'd put height="SIZE HERE' and width="SIZE HERE" after the src attribute.)

The Aspect Ratio Calculator (http://andrew.hedges.name/experiments/aspect_ratio/) site can help you figure out the right sizes to use.

Hope that hasn't overcomplicated it all for you.

The easiest way is to embed it into a draft post to your own LJ, then copy and paste the coding. Then you can either delete your draft post if it's just for the coding or proceed to post it as well. Or do what I do, and keep the draft post as private to have a record of what you've done for yourself. :) But photobucket and other sites do provide embed codes as well.

I'm a sucker for historical AU and I look forward to read yours. As far as I know the first one about this period of time!
Guillaume le Beau, is that appropriate for our Bodie:

The art work is very attractive and well done too!

This is a great example of the range in settings that exist across this year's BB field.

What an interesting world you've chosen! I have a feeling I'm going to learn about more than just the lads' relationship. :D
