Weekly Check In Post

Howdy agents! How goes it?

Now that the big writers reveal has come and gone, it really feels like we're properly up and running with this years Big Bang - hurray! Let us know how things are progressing - stories started, stories thought about, stories a mere twinkle in the ex-mercenary's eye - we want to hear it all! And vidders/artists - have you thought about taking the plunge this year when the sign-ups open? Maybe you're up for trying a new style, or have an idea about the sort of story you'd love to work with. We'd love to hear your thoughts :)

For now, have a good weekend, and if you're at a bit of a loose end, why not take a look at these writing tools/games right here. A bit of fun, and you never know - it might knock the odd idea loose too \o/

Ah, but if I call all three "Potential BB", I cannot post snippets from *any* of them to [livejournal.com profile] ushobwri on a Friday.

How greedy *are* you? ;)

LOL - apologies, I mis-worded (there's a great sign for a writer). What *type* of greedy are you? Three complete fics in October greedy, or snippets between now and then greedy?

(I also think being greedy for the work of a total unknown is very brave of you. How do you know how crap I just might be?)

My greed overcame you! *g*

Three complete fics by October is pushing any writer's sanity... (though I once knew a professional writer who could knock up a perfectly good novel in just under a week. He was a real lesson in just getting on with it!)

I'll be over the moon with whatever you come up with - and no, no bravery required... My artwork, on the other hand, now that may be scary/crappy!

Well the biggest factor that might get in the way is my health (that's what happened last year).

But I'm also doing [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout so I'm aiming for 75k by the end of the year! And I'm not talking about three novels or trying three NaNoWriMo-type months. More like 60k all told and I do already have odd scenes and things (over 11k of last year's unfinished BB). So... maybe not as insane as you first thought? The editing of them, on the other hand... But six months? If I let myself write and my back doesn't give way on me? (I think my worst mistake last year was not letting myself work on anything else during the BB - I think I need multiple projects to let one compost while I'm working on something else.)

My artwork, on the other hand, now that may be scary/crappy! I'm willing to bet that it isn't (if that image on your "Friends Only" page is yours, it *definitely* isn't). Also, have you seen my attempts at fanart?! Now that is scary and crappy!

Thanks for the encouragement!

RL, especially health problems, have evil, intrusive habits *nods* I hope your back is tons better - backs are tricky blighters, and blooming hard to ignore once they start playing up. /o\

Yay for all those words! 75k by the end of the year sounds doable, yes! A lot of it comes down to understanding how your own brain works - like you say, working on more than one thing at once, so things have time to ferment... good luck! Though I don't think you need it - you sound totally on course and in control... do you give lessons? *hg*
