Weekly Check-in Post!!!!

So another week has passed by. . . so quickly this time – I think we got shorted a day!

So, let's check out the state of our nails. . .

Are they trimmed and perfect, busily striking the keyboard?

Are they worn down to the nubs . . . War and Peace has nothing on you?

Have they tested your teeth enamel as you bite them off?

Are they slightly dirty because you escaped to the garden because pulling weeds was more exciting than the blinking cursor?

Have you wandered into this post thinking where are the grooming hints?

Let's us know what's up.

And if you have started on your toenails, we need to talk!

Still reading. STILL reading. I made it to the 18th century in the Ackroyd book (Queer City), so I'm gaining on the time period I want. Slowly.

Progress is progress - fast or slow!

Thanks. I know I'll get good ideas for other stories as well, but the darn book is so compressed (covering 2000+ years and all) that it's lower in writable ideas than I hoped.

Readers make good writers and as long as you're enjoying it, it's all good.

Not sure I'd say "enjoying" the read. So many of the historical records are court records and scandal sheets that the accumulation of abuse and assault is tiring. But thanks for the encouragement! I'm in the 19th century now. Did you know Guardsmen were known to visit a particular molly house and dance cheek to cheek? Gotta be an AU there.

Oh yeah, I can see how that will wear you down after a while. I did not know that about the Guardsmen, but I like the way you think. *g*

This post cracked me up, very entertaining matey!

***shakes pom poms with freshly manicured nails*** Only because I'm not writing this year ;)

I'm using my broken and nibbled nails to continue to pull out last week's hair...
After managing a good solid block of writing time last weekend, things have gone pear-shaped again, and my notebook remains in my backpack (normal people carry a purse... I carry a large industrial-strength backpack with work files and right now, three writing project notebooks)...
I'm trying to vision things through in my head on my morning and evening commutes... but since I drive for an hour on the busiest stretch of highway in North America on my journey to and from work, this isn't always such a good idea...
Looking forward to the weekend, where I may manage to scratch together a bit more writing time.

I always seem to get my best ideas when I have nothing to jot them down on, too - like when driving.

Hope the weekend brings lots of words and ideas!

Hope this weekend is good for you and you get a chance to rest and write a bit. I always seem to get ideas when I'm falling asleep, and then I never can remember them the next day.

Fingernails are, as usual, uneven but quite clean since as a nurse I wash my hands at work a dozen times an hour.

My problem is that I am highly distractable when writing--like right now, I did just finish a sentence in my story, but it's like eat some yogurt (and spill it on my Doctor Who shirt) go chat with my kid, write a sentence, play an online game, write a sentence, more yogurt, write half a paragraph...all my stories are like this!

Don't make us send in the ferrets and stoats to keep you on task! :-)

Yes, but all of those sentences add up to paragraphs and paragraphs add up to stories. You'll get there, one piece at a time.
