Inspired by merentha13's suggestion of an online slang dictionary, I thought I'd include a few other Brit checking resources:

List of British word not widely used in the U.S. (Pretty much as advertised, a big long list of Brit-specific words)

U.K. vs. U.S. spelling (For when you're debating using "ise" or "ize")

Dictionary of English Slang (This one's my personal fave)

And inspired by my own incipient panic, how about a poll on how we're all doing:

I really am hoping the writer's block is only temporary. It's been a slightly ridiculous amount of time since I've added any new words to the story. I am hoping using Scrivener will knock the whole thing loose in my head.

That, or I pull out the scotch.

I'm feeling much better this week about my story. I've had it preliminarily read and now I'm rewriting so it's progressing. That's such a good feeling. I won't be happy until it's been really gone through at least twice more after I do this first rewrite.

What surprises me when I read a story I've written a couple of weeks after I've got to the end (not finished by any means) is how awful my sentence structure is. It makes me cringe! I wish I could write pretty sentences. *sigh* Maybe when I grow up!

Back from my medical procedure with NONE of the complications the surgeon predicted--in fact, I'm his star patient now. Ready to jump back into my story once I get caught up on sleep.

I have two Brit dictionaries--Understanding British English by Margaret Moore is a fantastic reference and I keep it right by my computer.

The word I don't know--tail, as in tail that car. Heard a Brit word for tail on Life on Mars and meant to write it down, but I didn't.

It looks like I'm doing okay, but when you take into account that I haven't really done much work on it in...oh, a month? Then it doesn't look so good.

Also, I am terrible at writing climaxes. Of either sort. :P

Glad I was able to inspire someone *g*, I'm not feeling very inspired myself just now. I've decided to take a bit of a break from my story - not even going to think about it this week. Hopefully I'll be re-charged and ready to write again next week. Loved the English slang dictionary - have to figure out a way to fit some of those words in to the story!

Taking a break can be a good thing. Especially when you still have loads of time left.

Of course, my "break" has been going on for a bit now... Hmmm.
