The Weekly Check-in post... 13 days to go until rough drafts are due.
.
How's it going?
Already done and roughing out *next* year's Big Bang story?
Everything coming along nicely?
Pondering changing your name to Arthur and hiding out in Bognor Regis until the heat cools off?
Time to check in.
And, while you're at it, on a somewhat sillier note and IF you want to play, I was wondering if there might be a song or three that leap to mind when you think about your story.

My story's songs:
#1 Crush -- Garbage (http://youtu.be/Z0X8W6E5xeU)
And yes, my sense of humour is a little off:
You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man -- Loretta Lynn (http://youtu.be/Cz1cPKtayNM)
Obviously the blokes in red are MI5 agents, look how unfocused they are, you know Cowley would never tolerate that. *nods*

And my song has been on my mind from the first day I started writing the story - Stand By You by The Pretenders.

I went to print my 70 pages, and the printer said "no" - I managed to drain three ink cartridges, LOL.
(But the draft needs WORK. Big time.)
It doesn't have a song (although the fic was originally inspired by a picture). If it did, it would be in a different language, and speak of the pain of love... maybe. LOL!

I"ve just asked EOS and she agrees with me: we are hopelessly songless. Although she's been quoting poetry in her section, apparently.... *g*

I've got Bodie and Doyle ordering dinner at a restaurant, so at least they'll be fed while they languish waiting for me to return.
Songs...? I sing to myself all the time (literally, as Kat will attest to) but a song that's specially for Bodie and Doyle? Nothing springs to mind...will think on it.

My story is inspired/based on a verse of a song, and my title is the song's title. *g* I dont' mind saying what it is but I wasn't sure if I was stepping out of bounds. :) I actually like using song titles for story titles and have done so many times.
I always check as many places as I can to be sure my title hasn't been used before.

Yes. Seriously. Entire plot landed in my head in about ten seconds of listening (which was accidental in itself since I'd just downloaded it in a James Bond themes album...)

In spite of all that, and with the timely brainstorming session with my beloved beta, I now have roughly 18,000 words and all my holes are plugged! (although there are continuity issues I will need to fix in the second draft)
I think I might just get this little sucker done on time rather than submitting a partial and a promise of completion.
As for music, well, I try not to think of music while I'm writing because then I just sing along and the lads are left there standing with their hands on their hips, glaring at me to 'just bloody get on with it already!' (everyone's a critic - my singing voice isn't that bad!)

I should make the word limit for the end of the month, am on about 12,000 at the moment. Of course that's provided I don't go back over it and hack and burn*g* My beta is offline at the moment too and has been for a while so whether any of it actually works is debatable:P

I do finally have a whole story... a beginning, a middle and an end. And it's sitting at just under 21,000 words. (I'm going to pretend I didn't see the post about the 50,000+ word story.... show off! *g*) It still needs quite a bit of polishing (I think that sounds better than fixing!), but it is finally a story.
I've sent it out for a read and comments and next week I hope to get it to my kind volunteer beta - and yeah, I'm trying to butter her up!
Songs, hmm. I guess 'Hardly a Hero' by Levi Kreis.

A song that leaps to mind, huh? I'd have to say How Did It Come to This by, yes, Take That. You had to know it was going to be a TT song, yeah? :-/

My Big Bang theme song is definitely Ocean Breathes Salty (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lzuXms01Xk) by Modest Mouse. It fits in clever spoilery ways that make me cackle whenever I hear it.
And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both grow old
Well I don't know, I don't know, I don't know--I hope so.
*glances around*
*cackles*
