Weekly Check In Post - Cowley knows best
[Poll #1745502]
To help us all along, and inspired by the F*** Yeah Fanfic Flamingo Tumblr (NSFW) (thanks
draycevixen and
mikes_grrl ) I've created a little meme generator...
Who better to ask for help with your story than the Controller himself - that's 'Mister' Cowley to you and me. *g*
For example:

Fancy making your own Advice Cowley? Go here! :D

I only have 418 words. *headdesks repeatedly*
Still, thank you very much, Ask Cowley has been a BIG help:

Thanks, but don't worry, I've already beaten all of my brains out for the other BB rough draft due *this* weekend.

I'm too crazy to be brave. *g*
My LoM BB rough draft is due by Wednesday, they extended the deadline by a few days. Then the Pros one is due in a month... and the bowl of mush that passes for my brain is eyeing a third Big Bang in a fandom I'm not even active in. Yes, certifiable.

I don't really, I just like to take part in stuff. I'm a fandom pokey stick wielder so I think if I don't take part myself it might be a tad hypocritical. Well, that explains the LoM and Pros BBs. The third one is just about a fandom where hardly anything gets written for my favourite pairing.

Sometimes, you just gotta write the story you want to read yourself. I write a pairing in my other fandom that no one else seems to write long stories for, so if I want a long story with them in it, I have to do it myself!

I get the theory, I really do, but I don't feel as motivated to write when I have nothing in turn to read. I know my own plot twists, so no surprise and even the sexeh times are no fun when I've written them. It's a fandom where the Het ship is HUGE and my guys are secondary characters.
So, I'm dead impressed that you persist in writing what you want to read, that's fantastic.

I suppose, in a way, it's rather... I dunno, maybe narcissistic? of me. I will go back, months after I've finished writing and posting the story and read my own work just for enjoyment.
I started writing back in 2005 and I think that sort of burst the dam. I would keep on writing now even if no one other than myself and my beta were reading my stories. I need to write.
But having said all that... I do get annoyed sometimes that there's nothing new to read!

Everybody's got to start somewhere, and you can do it!!!!
And: LISTEN TO COWLEY, YOU KNOW HE'S RIGHT.

I keep trying to snatch the pebble but I'm pretty sure you just painted it on your hand...
There's a large part of my brain that's infamous for settling determinedly on a story I have no business/interest/too much sanity to write... but it won't relinquish my handful of braincells to let them think of something else. So I stall in the vain hope that another... nicer idea might come to me. Hah! Anyway, that's where I am right now.
I normally limit my PWP writing activities and all I can think of when I think of 20,000 words of PWP is poor, exhausted, sore lads.

But I definitely understand what you're getting at. I have a variation of that where usually I have a faint idea for a long fic, and one or two particular scenes - which I can't get beyond. (Oh, and how many times have I been out, or driving, or at work, and think up a great development; and then, when I'm back near paper or a machine, can't remember why the development was so great. :-/) Which is probably why what I have managed to complete I've done in a day or to. Endurance is my stumbling block.
Maybe if you can block off a weekend (next weekend?) and see how much comes out, that would be a sign of what you'd need to do to truly say yea or nay? From what you've said, you really haven't had a to work on it.
all I can think of when I think of 20,000 words of PWP is poor, exhausted, sore lads.
But think of the crack possibilities... 'cause it's not humanly possible. :D

Oooh do you also wake up in the middle of the night with a fantastic idea that you can't remember the next morning? That's my least favourite variation.
But think of the crack possibilities... 'cause it's not humanly possible. :D
Once you've given a car a sex life, all things are possible. *g*

Insomnia has been the source of a few fics, and near-insomnia has killed a few others. :(
Once you've given a car a sex life, all things are possible.
Okay, I *need to know about this*. :looking for links:

It was for a different fandom, Life on Mars so don't think it would interest you.

You have no pity for the poor lads? 20,000 words of PWP?
Mind you, they'd die with smiles on their faces. *g*

Yes, yes I do... like split them up. *hides*

Even if you´d ended your BB story with them split up, there´d be masses of comments making you want to write a following piece where they get back together.
And that just shows that whatever you´ll write, it will be read!
And get out from under that table, I´ve seen you.
(It sounded like you were about to split them up, not spying on them?)

Thank you for the lovely comment... but really I'd have to write another 20,000 words on top of this to make the readers happy?
*goes back to hiding under the table with the lads* *takes notes for 20,000 word PWP*
