Well, writers, it's drawing up to deadline! We have twenty days until rough draft/detailed outlines are due. I know some of you aren't pleased with this, but I'm so excited! I'm happy with my story now, thanks to my sweeties [livejournal.com profile] ankaree and [livejournal.com profile] dawnebeth who have read my first draft and given me super suggestions.

So how are you guys doing? Anybody need some help? Toss out those questions and/or problems and we'll talk about them. You don't have to be specific if you don't want to. Or just let me know how you're doing. And if you're having fun. I'm having fun so I hope you are.

How be you in your writing world? *bg*

I think I'm going to make it (~3,500 words to go, with enough time to work on it a bit). I think it's going to be crap, though.

However, I'm stunned - stunned, I say - that this is going to happen.

Actually, I need to go to work early. I really should post this later..

But what exactly are we supposed to have for the deadline? I saw mention of a summary, too, but what's meant by that?

Deadline Looming

Well, my query was exactly that of Golden Bastet - what exactly is expected at the end of the month deadline. I have about 7000 words written and an outline for the rest. There is no way it is going to be completed by the end of the month. So would the chapter outline plus the completed chapters be sufficient - even though I know Chapter One needs a major re-write even at this stage.

Help!!

I'm actually pretty stoked. I'm currently sitting on 10,574 words and I have a five day weekend coming up. I'm feeling pretty confident about getting it pretty close to finished by then. (well, the rough draft at least)

Only thing is, just in case I don't get it finished by the end of the month (you know, in case I get felled by the flu or something and can't write), it's veered rather a lot from the outline I made, does that matter? I wanted them to go one place and Bodie told me to get stuffed in no uncertain terms, so they've gone someplace else and that's changed a number of things that have to happen.

My only problem is topics for arguments when they first get together. *sigh* I've left that bit to last, so my rough draft may be sent in with the placeholder 'argue argue argue'. *g*

Oh, and yes, I am having fun. :D

Quick answer, running to a meeting, sorry.

Here's the link I posted a few weeks back to

The rough draft requirements (http://ci5-boxoftricks.livejournal.com/26172.html)

And here's the link to

last year's artists claiming posts (http://ci5-boxoftricks.livejournal.com/8407.html)

so you can see the sort of story summaries writers turned in for the artists to choose from.

The writing I have no trouble with--it's making any sort of outline that has my knees quaking, lol. And short summaries...Yes, yes, I'll do it. I wrote two good scenes in the last two days, am heading for a specific goal.

I did like sc_fossil's story--and she read the beginning of mine, so at least I know the first 45 pages worked. ;-D Got some necessary Brit info from msmoat and EOS--thank you for the help!

My daughter's school ends this week, which is the only drawback. I can't write as well when she's around!

Well! For once I can report in on progress made! Yes, we are doing this at the last minute, but on the other hand, we have 31,000 words already. Um...yeah. *g* Some of that will be able to stay, some of that has to go, a fair bit still needs to be written, but we have a pretty good idea of what we need to do and how to go about doing it. (The story is changing, so we are going to have to jettison about a fourth of what we've done, alas.) I'm working on procedures today, and fixing it all up so we can write. EOS needs to write a particular scene. We've got the next few days to seriously work on it, and then, with any luck at all, we'll have a complete rough draft by the deadline!

Yes, word count is no problem. Writing the rest of it, and making it good, though...ack!

I've been wasting writing time for weeks, sitting on the fence, NOT wanting to write the one idea I had for this year's Big Bang.

Well, today, I've jumped off... Now to see if there's enough time left to write my rough draft. *is deranged*

I've got a side question if anyone can answer--do we know what languages Bodie and Doyle speak? Even if it is only a few phrases. for the purposes of my story, Bodie knows a smattering of Farsi.

As I remember, Bodie didn´t understand Doyle´s french sentence in "A hiding to nothing".
But then he knows a few german words...

Oh, I totally agree with you that Bodie could speak any language...*g*

I kinda wondered - as a merc I would´ve expected him to speak french for sure. Or at least understand it, since english, spanish and french are the most common languages (besides chinese, which came up lately...)

And he learned some german while staying there for a short time.
