[Poll #1824744]

Now that you've started hyperventilating thinking about your story, are any particular songs coming to mind, like "Please release me (Let me go)" or "A Whumping hunting we will go?"

Any particular writing/vidding/drawing survival must-haves at your house? I have to drink pots and pots of tea (probably explains why I always have the lads consuming copious amounts) and my mate Cherry has to listen to the Bee Gees... don't ask.

Or, if none of this foolishness appeals to you, feel free to just check-in and let us know how it's going.

Oh, I can usually have a vague beginning, middle and end in mind when I start to write - I know what I want to write and what's going to happen - but having the whole thing written in your head and all ready to type out is incomprehensible to me, hence the gross unfairness of it all as I spend months writing and re-writing:P *g*

I haz a plot! But it has no ending and hardly any middle. I haz 300 words written! But that is only a tiny portion of the epic tale that’s in my head. My music choice at the moment is Evenesence – Going Under. Is there a hidden meaning there somewhere do you think?*g* Pass the Scotch:P

I'm one of the "completed rough draft" crowd. It just sort of... happened. I got very inspired. Now the story is sitting so I can get some perspective, and the time and energy to go over it. Then I'll try to work out the things I got wrong, and then get some outside perspective on it and... well... a lot of work to do....

I start at the beginning and write till I reach the end, although sometimes I have to go back and add or change scenes later if I missed something.

Also, I don't drink caffeine or listen to music. Seem to be the minority in that....

Best of luck! Glad it's going well. :D

Yeah, I do feel pretty lucky to have that this time. I think it needs it, because I wrote it so fast and because it's an AU and... well, because it was me writing. >.>;

I know what you mean, and I don't know why some stories are head-against-a-rock and some are (relatively) easy to write. It doesn't even seem to have anything to do with how well they ultimately turn out, IMO.

Ah yes, semantics. Happy ever after is an ending isn't it??

Perhaps not so hidden?

Possibly more of a portent:P

Have a margarita! :pours:

Well, I have a couple thousand words (though this story will have to be beyond 15K to be told properly), I've talked to a couple of people about the concept, it's going okay for me considering I don't have much time to write.

My main problem right now is that they can't know each other's names for awhile, and I am not doing the "curly-haired man" / "tall man" / etc bit for 70-odd pages. (And sadly, I'm not sure sunshine and angelfish would work, either.) "Oy!" would probably last about three pages.

I was just on my LJ complaining about that, LOL.

Am keeping up the right tone so far, though. \o/

Well, you say that, but we've never seen the two of you together in the same room...

Let's not call it revision, though, okay? I hate doing revisions. *g*

I totally believe most people need a place to call their own - where they can go inside and close the world out.

*g* That's hilarious that you sing in your sleep. Songs are a great source for story titles.

Here now, what's wrong with iced tea? It's brilliant on a really hot day.

Okay, I'm officially jealous. *g* You've got your rough draft DONE? *boggles* I haven't even started. :(

I'm afraid any time someone mentions a 'cunning plan' to me my mind goes straight to Baldrick. *g* (and I really hope MY cunning plan written on a serviette is better than Baldrick usually comes up with)

eta: and I had to go and make myself a Baldrick icon after that. *g*

I've tried to write out of order and it makes my brain go into catatonic lock down. I must start at the beginning and write through to the end. I rather envy people who can jump about in a story and have it turn out to a cohesive whole at the end.

But ... but ... that's not a bedtime story!*g*

Mind you some possibilities just sprang to mind;)

Whether it will be a cohesive whole at the end is debateable - we will just have to wait and see (and bury our heads in the sand if it's not!) :)

At the moment I'm just going with the "write a scene if it appeals" approach - I've never had a whole plot fall into place so easily and I'm loath to do anything that stops the creative juices flowing. If that means writing the end before the beginning ... well, I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it works out.

You definitely have to go where the creative juices are flowing. *nods*

My beta writes out of order all the time... and she laughs at me and calls me 'anal bookkeeper girl' because I can't. *g* (it's true, I am a bookkeeper and I like things orderly. *g*)

God, I've just realised how stereotypically English I am. I can't live without tea (definately hot, not iced), and I find myself talking about the weather all the time. The trouble is I can't talk about my love of all things Pros and m/m because the people I know wouldn't understand, so the weather is a nice easy topic. Even my husband tells me I have a problem. Have I? ;)
