Let's not agonise over word counts this week. Let's agonise over...well, agony. Let us know how you are planning on whumping the lads for your Big Bang. What's it to be, a nice unhealthy dose of pleurisy? Pneumonia? Flu and some stealth-hugging? Or how about that old favourite, hypothermia and enforced sleeping-bag/bed sharing? Always love that one myself.

Or are you going the more traditional route of the Pros era, and just planning on shooting and stabbing the lads, with maybe a broken bone or two thrown in for good measure? Enquiring minds want to know.

And then there's the matter of which one to do it all to, right? I personally have a thing for a gruff Doyle trying not to have worry make him ratty, and a Bodie all loose-limbed and wide-eyed from blood loss and/or fever/ blow to the head, etc.

But then a Doyle with all that feisty-ness whumped out of him is also rather appealing..

So share your thoughts and plans below for all the hurt/comfort we can look forward to.

And check this yahoo group out, if you like. [livejournal.com profile] dawnebeth and [livejournal.com profile] ancastar put me onto this. It's for fanfic writers to ask and get answers to medical shenanigans they want to put their characters through.

(Best question ever? [livejournal.com profile] dawnebeth saw it just after she joined up:

"How long would my character live with an arrow through his heart?")

EDIT: And this one too (thanks [livejournal.com profile] liriel1810): Absolute Write, which apparently has lots of gory tidbits on gunshot wounds, etc.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] little_details on LJ. Thanks Drayce!

And I suppose I should also warn for spoilers ahead in some of the comments.

Why are most writers so evil?

Not that I mind a hurt!Bodie or a fevery!Doyle, not at all, but all the spoilers, and then it will be OCTOBER!!! until it´s posted....*whine*

Guess I have to read stories I already read, or just look out for ones with fevery!Doyle now on the Circuit Archive....

I´m off to read. (Honest, who needs clean windows anyway?)

Hmmm, what to reveal, what to reveal... *ponders* Well, it's Doyle's turn this year (although he sort of got it a bit last year too... he just suffers too beautifully *evol cackle*)

Let's see, we'll have recovery from serious gunshot injury, and a permanent disability to cope with. That'd be enough to make anyone rat-tempered. *cackles* Oh, and just to make it interesting, he's included Bodie in his 'hate the whole sodding world' mood. ;)

If anyone is interested, I've been lurking on this site :
http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=66

They've got lots of really interesting bits of information and heaps of stuff about gunshot wounds and stab wounds and poisoning and... well, just about anything you can think of to do to your characters. *g*

Sounds very good! And an excellent opportunity for fun with a Doyle with no 'filters' on what he says. *g*

I tend to make Doyle suffer most. I'm not sure why.

Maybe I'm following in the tradition of the show. He certainly did seem to get thumped around a lot.

And he does seem to suffer so sympathetically... and then Bodie can rescue him...

I try to be fair about who gets to save the day but I have a ways to go!

No worries. I may have even got the original link from here at one point - I've been lurking over there for a while.

( only in fandom are such words uttered so fervently:)

We're an evil lot. *g*

Maybe because he doesn't try to do the 'stiff upper lip' thing? He's not afraid to show that he's in a world of hurt, even if he's not going to let it stop him from doing his job.

Bodie's definitely very good at rescue. ;)

Gah, I have no idea yet what will befall the lads this time round although am undeniably charmed by a Bodie all loose-limbed and wide-eyed from blood loss and/or fever/ blow to the head....

The story still has 0 words to its name, just a vague idea of "mood" and setting... but I'm not feeling the pressure yet. Erm, which could be a sign I'm in denial about Big Bang realities (and most other kinds frankly).

I'm excited though, and feeling the lads love, so it's all good :D

I'm just letting them worry a lot. Though Bodie does hurt his arm and keeps a stiff upper lip.

I'll do the classic and hole them up somewhere with very few medical supplies and have them forced to make the best of it.

Excellent plan - lack of medical supplies is a doozy. And a dollop of crap weather perhaps? It always adds to the fun desperation of the occasion :D Aw, poor Doyle... *cackles*

Permanent disability eh? ^^

I like your style :D

Stoical hurting Bodie is always a joy to behold. Looking forward to it!

Funnily enough, most of my whumping so far is concentrated upon an original character. Hopefully I shall be able to generate enough sympathy for him along the way, that it is not a whumping wasted. *g*

Of the lads, though, I think it's going to be Bodie. My last long fic was horrid to Doyle, so I think it's Bodie's turn!

"Or how about that old favourite, hypothermia and enforced sleeping-bag/bed sharing? Always love that one myself."

Me too! I haven't read nearly enough of that lately. Any good recs to keep me going until BB time?

I'm shocked I tell you, S-H-O-C-K-E-D, that you would even ask such a question. Hurt one tiny hair on our beloveds heads? Shame on you I say. *whistles*

Hey, I'm practising my innocent look today. *nods*

I like [livejournal.com profile] little_details, right here on livejournal, for your whumping details... well, for a lot of other sorts of details too.

Never mind them - it's me that's in agony. My hard drive has died and the man said I will most likely lose all my data. That's 7000+ of BB gone. I am gutted.

If I can either retrieve or recreate it, Doyle was in a lot of pain, last time I looked.
