Quite a roller coaster! It's ages since I read a fic with Ray as the one holding back emotionally so that was refreshing, as was the use of Murphy as the interim lust/love/sex interest. The ending, with Ann and Alfred, was extremely satisfying! Well done!

I see Ray as having more ideas about the way life should be than Bodie does so I tend to see Ray has having more plans about his future drafted out.

I've also never quite got over the way Murphy looks at Bodie when they're discussing climbing the tower. :D

I've never disliked Ann, I always felt like she was in an impossible position, so having made her Ray's symbol for another life I felt like I owed her a happy ending too. The weird games our minds play.

I was going to post the summary I used when the art post was made and then I decided it was too much summary for such a short story, the Rolling Stones song was playing on the radio and it just seemed right.
