Genre: Gen
Characters/Pairing: Bodie, Doyle

Summary: It’s the early days of the partnership. Cowley orders the lads on a clandestine search for some missing official secrets, where MI6 appear to have dropped the ball. But all is not as it seems, and when a routine pick-up goes badly wrong, they find themselves battling a number of adversaries. Working out whether they can trust anyone, even each other, proves a dangerous game.

Ooh, I love early-partnership-lads stories, and this sounds like a nice, long story to just relax into. I shall download as soon as i get home from work. Unfortunately, it will go into the queue--I'm behind!--but I shall read and comment soon, I hope.

Congratulations!

Just wanted to post to say how very much I enjoyed your story.

This was, for me at any rate, one of the best stories in the Pros Big Bang this year.

Thanks for a great read.

(Writers don't seem to be receiving any notification from A03 so i thought I'd put this here).

I’ve literally got no nails left and it‘s all your fault! What a brilliant humdinger of a story this was and I loved it! So much to comment on. A great, complicated plot which you managed to unravel at a perfect pace without tripping yourself up in terms of plot-holes, etc. Other bits I really liked and not necessarily in any chronological order: Dottie, thank god for Dottie who was great (I kept thinking of the scientific assistant in NCIS with the hair bunches....); the way you depicted Bodie and Doyle's relationship at the beginning, before Bodie went 'bad' - close enough to care about the value of a good partner but not *so* close that Bodie's behaviour (without consulting Doyle) would seem really out of place. And Doyle, poor Doyle, I’m surprised he could walk after the treatment his head received! And I appreciated your knowledge of Central London. And Doyle’s final preference for good old Walls sausage rolls over the other (unspellable) poncey sandwich filler thingie he thought he could bribe Dottie with. (Bodie knows best.)

After reading this story I feel so satisfied and very proud of the stories Pros as a fandom is still managing to produce after so many years, and it's even more satisfying to conclude my BB reading in the mannner in which I began it, on a high, and to go out with a 'bang'!

Thanks so much for this.

Thanks very much for replying to my comment so quickly! I'm really pleased you've seen it because I'd hate to think that writers put all that work into a story and then might miss positive feedback. (I think there's definitely a problem with A03 notifications because a couple of other writers failed to receive some of their later comments, as well.)

Because I hadn't seen any other stories by you I thought this might be the only one you've written (so far) but in terms of standard of writing, it's incredible that this *is* your first story! I do hope you write more Pros and thanks very much for getting back to me.

Oh this was such a pleasant surprise. I've just finished reading it and I was enthralled. A lovely long plotty episode based fic, with the lads being the lads all the way through. My favourite. Lovely. And such a lot of work for you, I can see the effort. I love the twists, the turns, the various spy agencies up against each other, Cowley's triple think. I did agree with Francis and thought that Cowley was perhaps a bit too ruthless, specially after his roses and lavender speech where he made mention of innocents bleeding over the high street, but i enjoyed the story regardless. My favourite bit was Doyle sneaking in the window to take the photos and the desperation at almost being caught. I loved the description of the whole scene, the gardens, the house, the sneaking through the bushes. I really hope to see more fic of this type from you. Thank you for writing it.
