The fifth annual Professionals Big Bang is over, and we'd like to thank you all for making it a success! Whether you wrote a story, made art, served as a beta or cheerleader, or just read and enjoyed, thank you so much for participating!

Once again, we'd also like to thank [livejournal.com profile] callistosh65 and [livejournal.com profile] przed, without whom there would have been no Pros Big Bang!

This year there were 16 stories, for a grand total of 492,416 words of brand-new Pros fic.

Shortest story: 15,578 words
Longest story: 51,732 words
Average: 30,776 words

Thanks again!

Your mods,

It's been nail-biting, getting to the posting date, but the hard work was all worth it. I've so enjoyed my first Pros Big Bang, and it's wonderful now being surrounded by all these excellent stories of such high quality. Some I've managed to read so far and they have been fab, with the most marvellous art. The others are waiting, like presents to be opened! This is a wonderful challenge to be involved in, as both writer and reader. Much gratitude to the Mods for everything, and YAY! for our fandom, so full of talented and lovely people!

Hooray! We did it again! And bloody hell. Nearly half a million words? I really enjoyed taking part this year - it's definitely easier the second time round - and I am glad and grateful that you ran it.

And yes: thanks to the other writers, and to all the artists - awesome, such abilities - and to betas within and without the fandom. And to everyone who commented on the check in posts and my journal updates. And to the people who read it all. It is true, I would want to write stories anyway, but it is still a delight to me that people want to read them. Thanks, all!

Yes, thank you to everyone: writers, artists, betas, readers, commenters, and cheerleaders! But, especially, thank you to the mods. You make it all look easy, but I know it isn't. You manage to be both flexible and firm, which is a pretty neat trick. *g* I am so grateful that you all allowed me to participate when I didn't have the full rough draft, um, even started on time. *g* I promise next year to start earlier! Cheers all around!

Thank you for organising it all! It makes October really special. And every year there are lots of new fics to read and some to keep and re-read and art to drool over! I noticed that this year more artists are creating actual 'covers' which we can use for e.g. Calibre. I wonder if they've been following the conversation about that elsewhere?

I'm way behind on reading - I did mean to keep up but I've been involved in another challenge in another fandom - pity it was also October but it was a Halloween challenge. Also, I've been having huge amounts of work on AO3 stuff - I'm quite impressed that Pros, as a fandom, is never involved in harassment, plagiarism, or any other violations of the terms of service. Well done us!! :)

Yes, to all the comments above. Huge thanks to all involved. I'm about to download the last two stories and have been amazed yet again by the talent of our wonderful writers. The art has been pretty incredible too - even better I think than previous years.

Thanks to all of the Pros community for joining in the Big Bang. It was yet again a rousing success. This all comes down to all the writers, artists, editors, commentors and cheerleaders. It takes all of us to do this.

Thank you so much to all the BB writers and artists for giving us all these wonderful goodies! Massive thanks to the mods too for organising everything and making it all run so smoothly!

All the stories are sitting waiting on my Kindle and I can't wait to get started on them!

PS I can only find 16 stories, not 17 as you've said in your post. Am I going crazy? (Don't answer that...)

*wearing AO3 staffer hat*

A technical point for next year. People using lyrics to introduce their fics, or anywhere in their post to AO3, must not post whole lyrics or large parts of lyrics. If they do, and anyone reports them - and believe me, there are people lurking just looking for things to report - the work has to be hidden till the lyrics are removed and a warning note is placed on the poster's file. They can use short quotations - a couple of lines are safe. They can also, oddly enough, link to places on the net where the full lyrics are available provided the link is not to a commercial promotion. The same applies to poems, articles, etc. Obviously, only to things that are still in copyright.

I found one this year and have contacted the poster directly so that she doesn't get into trouble but thought maybe next year you should mention it when talking about upload to the collection? Get back to me if you have any questions!
