Title: I Once Was Lost
Author name: [livejournal.com profile] robeau
Artist name: [livejournal.com profile] sc_fossil
Archive: ProsLib
Genre: Slash
Characters/Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Word count: 28,999

Summary: Raymond Doyle quit CI5 after twelve years of service, leaving Bodie, their partnership, their friendship and their carefully nurtured relationship behind. Ten years later, George Cowley passes away and reunites his former top team by giving them a final set of orders to be carried out.

Beta Extraordinare: Many heartfelt thanks to Kat(aka sc_fossil)for her patience, guidance, and wisdom. She is a tough, but kind, beta who helped the lads and I find our way when I somehow managed to get us all hopelessly lost. Thanks, Kat!

Artist: I was doubly blessed on this little adventure as Kat also did the art - an amazing vid that I fell in love with at 12:30 a.m. one morning, simply being unable to go to sleep until I had watched it (multiple times of course) Kept the Robeau kitties up way past their bedtime! She also supplied the lovely banner.

And a very special Across the Pond thanks to Rachel J, my bunkie, for the Britcheck. Somehow it seemed only right to ask my favorite Brit (30+ years of friendship) to do the honors. And she accepted the challenge eagerly, managing to read the thing in between picking, stewing and canning miles of plum curry and preserves.

What a fantastic teaser for the story that vid is!
I love it and I never thought that the karaoke version of a song would fit so perfectly. It's somehow melancholic.
Now on to the story! :-)

Oh, I've forgotten to say that I like the cover art as well!
Cool colours!

I had fun with the story, although I was very sad about Cowley and how much Bodie misses his friend George badly.
And I often wanted to kick Doyle in the ass - especially at the beginning in his office. And I felt sorry for (poor) Bodie.
So the real mixture of emotions! :-)
Thank you!

I couldn't sleep last night so I took my time to read the story instead. And it was worth it all along :)
Thanks a lot, I really enjoyed the read!

I'd like to thank you, Jane, for being patient and so very willing to put out the best story you can write. I enjoyed reading it and doing the art for you. And more than all of that, I enjoyed your company at CQ and I hope we do it again.

Can't wait to take a look at this -- I'm a little nervous as it's similiar to an idea I'm working on, but I can't resist reading!

True. Your story was completely different. I heartily enjoyed it.

I am not usually a fan of stories where the main characters have been apart, but I really enjoyed Doyle and Bodie getting back together and working through the memories at Cowley's house.

I'm beginning to think there was an unwritten theme through many of these Big Bang stories--get Bodie kidnapped! I did it, and so did you. ;-)

Well, this is a real roller-coaster of a ride and what a 'couple of dumb bastards' they are ... typical!

I really enjoyed this story, so thank you for posting it ... and the introductory vid is great.

That was an excellent psychological exploration at so many levels: their past and 'present' behaviour; their feelings; their attitudes to Cowley and the job; their underlying patriotism and morality. You made me believe in these 'older' lads and I enjoyed their journey of discovery.

Yes, this is how slowly I've been reading the BB stories. *g*

I read "I Once was Lost" today, on my trusty Kindle and really enjoyed it. While the lads being separated is never a good thing, I understood Doyle's reasoning even if I didn't approve of it any more than Bodie did. So much like Cowley to still be pulling the strings, even after his death and Willis really is a great villain of the piece.

Thank you. :D
