Title: Any Other World
Author: Andromeda, [livejournal.com profile] m31andy
Artist: Anja, [livejournal.com profile] roven75
Archive to Pros Lib: Yes
Genre: Slash
Characters/Pairing: Bodie/Cowley, Bodie/Doyle
Word count: 17,000

Summary: Post-Fall Girl, AU. Almost three years after Doyle was imprisoned for killing Willis, Bodie finally sets out to find out why.

Notes: This is a direct sequel to Kitty Fisher's The Pillory. With many thanks to Kitty Fisher for allowing me to play with her fantastic story. While it would probably be a good idea to read The Pillory first, I have it on good authority this can be read as a stand-alone fic.

With thanks to Anja for the fantastic cover art, to [livejournal.com profile] jaycat92 for the amazing beta, to [livejournal.com profile] greengerbil for the original idea and to [livejournal.com profile] cuvalwen for being there when I needed her. Also with special thanks to my wonderful friendslist for their pom-pom waving and support.

Also many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] przed and [livejournal.com profile] callisto65 for running the Big Bang Challenge. We've had a lot of fun with this!

Title is from Mika's "Any Other World".

At last, Bodie opens his eyes. Always bothered me that Bodie could be so disloyal, so plain *stupid*. About time he woke up!

Thanks for that!

Oh I am so glad you wrote this! The Pillory is a story that haunted me. I feel so much better with your resolution to the story. Just the right amount of stubbornness on Bodie's part - and Ray;s reaction at the end...beautiful. Thanks for this!

Thank you for writing this. I always hated the way The Pillory ended. I feel much better now.

I LOVE the fact that you wrote a sequel to Fisher's Pillory. I'd have loved it just for the fact that you tackled it, let alone the fact that you did such a nice job with it. I've read the "Seven Suggestions for What Happens Next" and I really enjoyed the beginning story by Joan...Enright (maybe?) but I have to say yours is my all time favorite. Well done!

You are forgiven - though just barely! It is a very intense story and I enjoyed it very much.

Thanks for satisfyingly resolving a story which always left me dissatisfied - only because the lads HAVE to end up together. :) Great story, a wonderful read.

I've never read The Pillory because I've heard enough about it to warn me off. However, with your alternate ending I might just be able to stomach it. Very well done indeed!

I love fics that depart from canon and ask 'what if?' Evil!Cowley was in one way a surprise and in another way a case of subconscious recognition - which I suppose is inevitable when you consider what the secret services have to do. (Or am I too involved with Spooks?) I loved your portrayal of Betty with her championing of Doyle and her eventual heroism. Especially the way she collapsed into Bodie's arms once she'd fired the bullet! I hope the lads can overcome the past and be perfectly happy straight away but I suspect there's another story there, waiting for you to write it! Next year's BB?
