Pros Big Bang 2017: Nice-Orno Ltd
Oct. 29th, 2017 09:00 pmTitle: Nice-Orno Ltd
Author: Fiorenza_a
Artist: Gvenanne
Archive to Pros Lib: Yes
Genre: Gen
Characters: Doyle, Bodie & Cowley
Word count: 33257
Warnings: Gen in the Pros sense - not the strict AO3 sense, but no slash of any variety.
Summary: Having got up Cowley's nose once too often, Bodie and Doyle find themselves off major assignment.
Stuck with investigating a series of trivial incidents, the lads entertain themselves pondering the triple-think behind Cowley's newly minted crusade against petty criminality, not to mention his sudden interest in gentlemen's fashion.
As the unlikely pieces of the jigsaw come together, CI5's finest find themselves wondering if they have just fallen down a very seasonal rabbit hole.
Notes: My grateful thanks to the BB Mods for all the joy of reading I've had in previous years and, specifically, for the questions you have answered this year (please let me know if I need to amend this post) and to Pros Lib generally for simply existing.
My especial gratitude goes to Gvenanne, who not only provided tirelessly enthusiastic cheerleading, without which I may not have finished my first BB, but who also gifted me with the inspiration for the name of the eponymous company, when I was stuck. And, if all of that wasn't enough, there is the truly fabulous artwork...

I have to admit inexperience showed - I've never posted a fic that long before - or to a collection - but all the angst was worth it.
I'm definitely up for doing it again - and I've learned quite a bit along the way - so I'll probably lose less hair and sleep next year !
Now to relax with all that Prosy goodness I missed while I was wrangling with my own dodgy fic :0)

As you know, I was nervous - but now it's done I'm feeling as smug as Bodie on a particularly smug day !

Date: 2017-10-30 09:20 am (UTC)"The picaresque novel is a genre of prose fiction that depicts the adventures of a roguish hero/heroine of low social class who lives by his or her wits in a corrupt society. Picaresque novels typically adopt a realistic style, with elements of comedy and satire.
Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884) was consciously written as a picaresque novel."
Hehe. That sounds great!
I love my Huck Finn! :-)
And so far I like the beginning!
Congratulations and Thank you!

Isn't 'picaresque' a great word :0)
And I loved Huck Finn too !
I hope you enjoy the rest of the story as much as the beginning.

I'm not sure that helps very much - but it's what I had in mind when I thinking about warnings/ratings.

Ahhh....RL - it can be a bit of beggar, hope it's nothing horrible.
To be honest, I'm only just catching up with BB 2017 now - a glut is a double edged sword, I'll probably still be reading at Christmas - but then, what's not to like about a spot of Prosy reading at Christmas ?
