Title:  Touch Sensitive
Author: JoJo ([livejournal.com profile] solosundance )
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] przed
Archive to Pros Lib: Yes
Genre: Slash
Characters/Pairing: Bodie/Doyle, Cowley, Jax, Phillips, Betty
Word count: 14, 798

Summary: Left a physical and psychological mess after a brutal torture ordeal, Bodie can’t cope with very much except tea.  Doyle’s living in, wondering if their fledgling sexual relationship is over, and burning with the need for vengeance.  He’d be the perfect cure, only Bodie can’t bear to be touched...

Notes:  This is a sequel to my story Today's Lesson.  The sadly-absent [livejournal.com profile] myrebelcat  wondered at the time what the aftermath of that nightmarish little mess might have been, and what healing may or may not have taken place.  Many thanks to her for having asked, to [livejournal.com profile] przed  for her fabulous trailer vid using a real favourite song of mine, to the truly outstanding co-mods of this first Pros Big Bang and to [livejournal.com profile] byslantedlight  and [livejournal.com profile] foxcat74  for their eagle-eyed and cowboy-expunging beta services (remaining glitches are mine all mine).

I always did wonder what would happen next after Today's Lesson; I'm glad there is a sequel.

I'm downloading it now to my E-reader, and am so looking forward to reading this.

I know your "Today's Lesson" and it is heartbreaking. I am more than a little bit nervous your BigBang story might continue it. You do know the combination of "heartbreaking" and "being a good writer" is ... *looks very worried*

Oh God that's brilliant. Oh I hope they get cricket on the green and a Morris Minor! I loved the first story, always wanted to know what happened next, and this is - well - I dunno. It's just.... brilliant. I love it. Thank you so much.

Oh, fantastic! I remember reading Today's Lesson and being so impressed by your writing style, and this is just as perfect. Both characters are absolutely right, and there was nothing...gratuitous about any of it. er. If that makes sense.

It's not an easy read, dark and painful, subtle and soothing at the same time, and so brilliant! :-)

W...W...W...Wah!!!!! What a story. Poor Bodie. And poor loyal love-sick Doyle. But what do you do when the one you loved is hurt so bad? You help them, you stick together, and you move on. Sob. Thank you for the story.

P.S. I've got to own up. I didn't read your notes before leaping in, so I read Touch Sensitive, then Today's Lesson, then Touch Sensitive again!!! Doh!!

That was a painful read but you still managed to put the hope in there. I know things will work out! Bodie is so damamged, yet Doyle is right by his side, even when Bodie doesn't want him. Time does seem to have helped and their reunion was touching. They're both strong so I have faith that they'll make it. Well done!

I'm thinking this is one of my favorites out of a group of really tremendous stories written for Big Bang. The mixed emotions of both Bodie and Ray come out so clearly and the scene in the interrogation room is really well done. And, of course, the Robeau kitties were very fond of the Tompkins.

Oh.my.... that was really a hard and painful reading.
But it was worth it!
You really managed to write such a vivid picture and I actually wasn't sure, how it would end :big sigh:

Thanks a lot for this brilliant story, it really is outstanding and unique!

I really hope, there's maybe a sequel of the new beginning ....

Again, thanks a lot for writing this one! :)

Always on kettle duty, taking the role of scary Matron when there were pharmaceuticals in the offing, radiating nervous, yearning warmth across the chasm in the bed.

Not only did George Cowley have eyes in his backside, he probably had ears in his eyes as well.

Bodie had felt himself climaxing all over Doyle's fist and the pillows as if brought to a perfectly-timed crescendo by a brilliant, insane conductor

My three favourite lines in the whole thing. I couldn't resist pulling them out and giving them back to you..*g* Just MARVELLOUS, mate. Full of heartbreak and square-jawed determination - and these flashes of wit in your word choices that just have me humming with pleasure and envy.

How I love the lads in your hands.

Today's Lesson was one of the stories that really pulled me into the fandom at the start of this year, and this was an amazing follow-up. Thank you for sharing.

Utterly heart-wrenching, but with a thread of hope at the end.
Beautifully done.

Well, I read the master post and felt I had to read the prequel first and then couldn't stop and basically spent the entire afternoon carried away in your story. Wow! What a roller coaster of emotions. Beautifully written too; every word perfectly chosen and placed. I love the hints and references to other writing like Larton, the detailed exploration of psychological damage, and the courage to show us a couple hurt almost beyond repair by their job, but with hope at the end. Thank you!

It was great, and because I was away and offline I'm only about a third of the way through reading!! Lots more to come!!
Someone said yours was very angsty so I didn't want to leave it till last - and now I'm glad I dived in because I loved it, angst and all!!

It's amazing to see the variety of styles and types of story. And we have some very talented writers!

I know I've told you how much I love this story, but I did want to do it properly.

I love your portrayal of both the lads, how you really get into their heads. You've done a superb job of showing how Bodie would deal with PTSD, and how he remains himself in spite of it. And you provided such a wrenching story arc for them both. I love that they're not perfect in the end, but that they finally recognize how they're better of together.

Wrap it all in gorgeous language, and it's a truly lovely story. Thank you. And thank you for giving me the perfect song to vid it to.

Very nicely done. Bittersweet and very touching (and no, no pun is intended). A pleasure to read such a carefully crafted story.

Oh, yes! Grown-up writing! Realistic and beautiful writing, my favourite kind. I’m never able to analyse or properly articulate *why* I like certain stories but I *can* comment on specific favourite passages/scenes:

The scene where Doyle nearly gets to beat the s*** out of Rawlings. To hell with PC! I loved this scene – the relief - even the remote possibility that Doyle was finally going to get the chance beat the s*** out of Rawlings on my behalf was gratifying!

Loved writing like the following which in brief, simple terms beautifully sums up so much about Doyle’s life, what he’s capable of and what he needs, from one extreme end of the emotional spectrum to the other, violence and love:

Doyle looked down at his hands, turned them over. Useless, bloody things. Could kill a man he hated but no use whatsoever in touching a man he loved.

I loved the realism of the conclusion:

None of that.
Instead, there'd be nightmares, doctors' appointments and therapy, the need to stay close to town. There'd be unemployment and depression, arguments over alcohol consumption, doors slamming.....

Yes! I feel *that* is the likelihood of their future but they’ll make it, I know they will. (Whatever ‘it’ is but together.)

Thank you so much for this story, I loved it.

Ye gads, this is so heartbreakingly brilliant and beautifully written! And it made me cry... for several days!
Thank you!

I've just finished reading your story and blimey, what is it with the BB, Bodie and electricity? Egads!

It's a really good story but I'm sure you already know that. I really like that you offer no magical solutions, no miraculous recovery and that, well, it's not a story of large sweeping changes but rather territory slowly gained and hard earned. It's there in things like the extra woman at Jax' house and Bodie's handing back Doyle's toothbrush and Tompkins. There's an inherent truth in all of this, that's the way life works for most of us a thousand little things rather than Eureka moments.

Thanks, petal. ♥
