Here's the post for anyone not able to sign up for the 2021 Pros BB challenge as a writer, artist, or beta, but who still wants to participate.

We’d love to have you as a cheerleader!

In fact, even if you are signing up as a writer, artist, or vidder, we'd still love to have you as a cheerleader! :-)

A cheerleader is someone who participants can bounce ideas off. Someone who can pre-read a partial draft and give a sense of whether it's working. Someone who can break out the pom poms and, well, cheer a writer on to the finish. It's an important job; writers, artists and vidders need all the encouragement they can get, and those pom poms aren’t going to shake themselves! So join the lovely lads above and get shaking! (Leg warmers and leotards optional.)

If you'd like to be cheerleader, just pop your name in a comment below, to let people know they can call on you for encouragement if needed. You can also pop into the weekly check-in posts at anytime to offer encouragement, a shoulder to lean [or cry] on, or just to shake those pom poms like the fabulous cheerleader you are!

Get practicing those jumps, and GO PROS!

Cheering available from sending encouraging thoughts, virtual hugs, plot discussion chats......

I'm happy to cheerlead - I'm going to start right now - I have around 8,400 words of a story written that I have no confidence I will finish by September (life currently being what it is).

So I have started a new story which now stands at around 840 words (I didn't make that up, co-incidences really do happen - apparently 😮).

The cheerleading part?

There's still plenty of time, if your story isn't going well - pick another one - a secret dusty old WIP already halfway there - something you've been dying to write that just flows off the pen.

The point is pick something that you know you will go back to time and again until it's finished and won't stall on you.

I also find it useful to have another completely different story on the go at the same time (or a series of short ones) so my brain doesn't get stale in one plot. Might not work for everybody, but if you find the words stop flowing, re-igniting the writing habit in another story can work.

I have gone from reading BBs, to wishing I was in a BB, to actually completing two BBs (this will be my third BB), and I had to bail one year too - so unless your yurt was ransacked by alien vikings who stole your story to use as rocket fuel, I will probably empathise. I will even do my best with the alien viking thing.

Just ask 😊

I'm more excited than I ought to be to have over 3500 words on the story I thought of last year--maybe this will have a chance at that.

And I always cheer on others writing! You can do it--ten words here, ten there and they add up!

Plus--I saw a wee vid on baby stoats the other day, It was a sign, I am sure since I'd never actually seen a stoat before.

I didn't have the money or popularity (or coordination) to be a cheerleader in school, but I was a great band nerd! I can holler and jump up and down just as good as anybody.

Good luck! I know you can do it! All y'all!
