As livejournal appears to be actually letting me in for a few minutes I thought I'd go ahead and try to do this week's check-in post.

How's it going? Yeah, I know, you've already finished and are now lounging about eating bon bons while scantily clad cabana attendants (are there any other kind?) fan you with large palm fronds. I'm psychic, right? Right! :D

So, would you like to share some of your work with us? How about, say, a three to five sentence long sample? Something to whet your readers' appetites?

And I don't mean to exclude our artists but I do understand that it's tougher to share your work without giving the whole game away. Still, if you'd like to share something I'm sure we'd love to see it.

Oh, and of course if you'd just like to say hi and/or a few words about how things are going, that's great too.

Hi! *waves* I'll try.

I'm editing as we speak. Been busy since LJ has been DOA for a few days now. I do wish I was eating bonbons and being fanned by cabana boys but alas, it is not to be.

Here's a taste of my fic:

"Was it bad?" [Bodie asked.]

"Bad enough," Doyle said angrily.

"Yeah, I know. But fuck all, Ray, this is shit."

"Language," Doyle said, his warning not holding any heat. His dry eyes burned and he swiped at them, making the feeling intensify. "Christ, Bodie. He's been drugged to the gills. Couldn't even hold up his head."

"That's not a bad thing, right? If he's been drugged, then he's still useful. You know how this works."

"Doesn't mean I have to like it!" Doyle's voice lowered. "I"ll kill him, Bodie. I swear it. I'll take great pleasure in slowly disembowelling whoever did this to Jacob."

"I'll sharpen the blade," Bodie offered.

Doyle held Bodie's eyes for a moment, then nodded curtly. "Knew I could count on you."

"Always," Bodie said. "Come on, then. Show me the snaps. You did get screen shots"

"Of course I did," Doyle responded with as much affronted dignity as he could muster. "Know me job, don't I?"

"Been out of practice, mate. Getting on in years."
