Welcome to the first regular check in post of the 2012 Pros Big Bang.

These posts are where you will all have chance to chat about how you are doing, flaunt your word count, wring your hands in despair, ask questions, make plans to run off to exotic lands as the deadline looms, celebrate when you reach your goal, show off your pom poms, and generally have fun.

I have no inspiration and no discipline :D My plan therefore is to laze around in denial, maybe tout for prompts at around the one month to go stage, and then be forced in an extreme-sports kind of way to imitate the lovely laceymcbain who wrote about 20K for an Inception big bang in two days.

Or at least I think that's my plan. I can't quite remember...

I can't believe I've committed to this again. The plot outline is in progress but it's very slow progress and I haven't dared even approach my editor yet to discuss how I'm going to tackle it. Oh well ... there's plenty of time yet (hysterial giggling)

Ticky boxes! Well, of course I signed up! I mean, you know, that's what I do! The amnesia thing, though, is in full swing. Hmm. And I've already done an amnesia story, so there goes that idea. Oh, dear. I have no ideas, not even an inkling. At this point, I can't even remember quite how to write, or how to want to write. But I did watch a songvid the other day that had me thinking, "Oooh, yeah...I remember these two...and he's in love with him, but there are complications...." Of course, then the songvid ended and the amnesia kicked in again.

I am surprised how far my word count is. I thought I wouldn't be able to even think of starting for a month or so. But, well, an idea grabbed hold....

I think at this point i know what I'm doing, know what I want to do, and it's going ok.... I only occasionaly want to put my hands round the fic's neck and squeeze!

But the big question remains. In AU you can cross a line where it feels like original fic. Have I crossed it? Am I close? Or is this working? Time will tell.

For me the most important thing is, do the characters feel like Bodie and Doyle?

This is Pros, so we have shed loads of of AU fans I've just never been a fan of AU myself.

I love me ticky boxes. I am a compulsive ticky-boxer. Not to fill in ticky boxes makes me twitchy.

However, I needed one more ticky box to tick, to say yes, I signed up, but now I have had my medication renewed and the voices are quieter today.

For the rest of it, hysterical giggling often follows margeritas, pirate ships are few and far between here in landlocked Derbyshire so would a National Express coach be acceptable as a substitute, and I have already written a hot sex scene with the guy next to me on the plane breathing heavily over my shoulder.

Can I get unProfessional indemnity on this sign-up?

Have AU, have beta, have started research, am ready to... what was the question? I had to change/tweak their names for the AU and I've done that bit. (It's a bit like when you're first pregnant...) Then there's the problem of wordcounts - not the way you're thinking - I sort of signed up for smallfandomfest just before Christmas and their sweet little wordcount minimum was 1000 and I accidentally wrote just under 18k. So I keep telling myself that the longer I leave it before plunging into this the shorter I can make it... or something like that. I love ticky boxes.

Ah, I actually understand the theory here. I'm really pressed for time and I keep telling myself it's only 15,000 words but then the story idea I'd like to write would definitely take more than that. To cut a long ramble short, there's a reason why I haven't signed up... yet.

I've been down to the beach every day, but no pirate ships are passing... bloody Jack Sparrow. Where is he when you need him?

I'm at the stage... big - what now? No, hang on, I have to do this story with a lovelorn ghost and this other one over here with demons first. And then I'll get two months away from needing the rough draft finished and absolutely panic. *g* (panicking, it's what I do) Thank goodness my beta is the voice of reason (and wielder of the cricket bat) in these situations.

I should probably start doing some location research, though. I know fuck all about Liverpool, other than the Beatles came from there and so did Davy Jones (I think *g* See! Even that 'knowledge' is more a guess!)

Another reason for signing up: this is one of the few places you get feedback before you've written a single word. Usually, you labour in grim silence then send stuff to your beta and wait, nails bitten to the quick. Here, you get to share the fun and the angst!! Well, I haven't started writing yet (beyond the little bits 'n pieces I already had), but I've gone through the crossover and taken "comparison" notes. I've even gotten through the first "that's in the crossover, but Doyle *really* wouldn't do that :frown: :head scratch:" bit already. :)

But RL is a mess. Not only do I have to move ASAP, and I have a massive presentation tomorrow am, but today my boss hinted there may be layoffs a-comin' down the pike. Wah.
