Date: 2013-09-02 05:04 pm (UTC)I was beginning to panic:- no where near completing; six weeks to go, then five, then four, now three; only half beta'd and some of that needs re-working; aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh (imagine me running around like a headless chicken - not a pretty sight).
But ... this weekend I have buckled down and cracked the backbone (it's amazing what you can achieve when you have to - I must confess I'm a bit of a last-minute kind of girl).
So now I'm dancing around quite happily. Still got a couple of chapters to write, and there's those earlier alterations to look at, but I'm quietly confident.
All I can say is my beta is a saint.
And whilst I don't want to wish away the remaining days of summer ... roll on October. I can't wait to read everyone else's offerings - there were some tantatlising teasers in there.

The stupid thing is I had this story worked out in my head since last year's Big Bang, I just found it really hard to sit down and write it. Oh well, lessons learned, and all that ...

It was one of those things. I'd not long been in the fandom and came across CI5 Box of Tricks just when the announcement went out for last year's Big Bang. At the same time the story came to me virtually complete and I couldn't shake it - it had to be written. I probably would have been better off just writing for myself as it was my first story ever, but I've never shown much sense and having the deadline helped tremendously.
And without the looming deadline this year, those two entries in my journal would remain all that I'd written. What is wrong with me? I have wanted to be a writer my entire life, I love writing, I love plotting, I love developing characters and storylines, I get such a buzz when it all comes together, when something just comes to me out of the blue ... and it's so "right". And yet if the committment wasn't there, I wouldn't write. Why? I think I need help.
Anyway, sorry. Kind of gone off topic there.
Back to this year's deadline - there's still 19 (er ... just over 18) days to go. That's still plenty of time. We CAN do it. Definately.

I have had a sneak preview from my artist and I am really really happy - it has exactly the right atmosphere.
