Thank you for your kind words! I'm so glad you like the pictures. :-)
I used a software package called Paint Shop Pro and it has a powerful layers capability that allowed me to blend multiple images together. Colour was important to the Ancient Egyptians (their colour palette was based around six groups: green, blue, yellow, red, black and white) and the tombs of the pharaohs were highly decorated, so I wanted the artwork to reflect that importance and be colourful too.
Plus, I've never seen skies as blue as the ones I saw in Luxor, so I can personally vouch for those in the artwork!

I was truly fortunate to visit Egypt many years ago and it made a lasting impression on me. Whereas some places can fail to live up to their reputations, Luxor did not disappoint. The temples of Karnak and Luxor were amazing, and the temple of Hatshepsut was just breath-taking. But the BEST thing about the trip was the Valley of the Kings - OMG it was soo incredible! To be able to go inside a tomb and look at the paintings done thousands of years ago was just awe-inspiring! I was absolutely THRILLED to do the artwork for GB's story!

Oh, I was THRILLED to be the one doing art for golden_bastet's story! I adore AUs and this one really appealed. As soon as I read 'Bodie' and 'charioteer,' I was hooked! I loved GB's story and its wonderful Ancient Egyptian setting, so the art was really easy to make. When we were discussing styles for the artwork, GB said she'd thought about tomb paintings, but I wasn't able to make that work without the background looking too busy, so I went for the hieroglyphs instead.
