*waves hello*
I wanted to start this weekly check in with a couple of quick reminders.
The first is that the deadline for the artists sign up on the 30th May is getting ever closer. if you would like to sign up just head over to the Artists sign up post.
The second is for the writers and is just a reminder that we have posted some information about the rough draft requirements, you can seem them at the rough draft requirements post.
And of course the deadline for the rough draft submissions is the 1st July.............tons of time yet.
Now to move on to more distracting things.
Found this link to various writing tips from the masters. Lots of interesting stuff here and my fav pieces of advice was from the truly brilliant Neil Gaiman and was simply: Write.
I also thought that I might try and distract you all completely and utterly with a link to TV Tropes. I can guarantee once you start looking at this site you will lose lots of your time to it but hey they say: this wiki is a catalog of the tricks of the trade for writing fiction. So we can pretend it is research.
And for my last link here is a collection of resources about Writing Sex Scenes. I especially liked the 102 places to have sex list and it set me wondering how many the lads could take advantage of *g*.
And of course this is your chance to let us know how you are getting on, see if anyone wants to join you when you escape to a tropical island *g*, ask any questions, curse my name for distracting you with links, and just generally chat away about the BB.

Date: 2012-05-15 11:48 am (UTC)Well it's not much to shout about but I do now have a working title, a first line and 152 words! Wa-hey!! Although looking closely at the 152 words, they don't actually seem to relate to the story I have in mind... oh well, that's a minor quibble I guess :)

Date: 2012-05-15 11:54 am (UTC)Thanks for the links! The "how to write a sex scene" link is *really* helpful, since that's a weakness, but they all help keep the Good Ship BB on the right course. :D
I'm feeling much better about things right now. I set aside time last weekend and just wrote - and better yet, figured out the next things I have to do task-wise and story-wise. Am at about 7,800 words, and wrote the weekend count plus 3/4ths of the count for this week in a day and a half. Am looking up sources for the research left to be done. If I sat down and did an updated outline, it would actually show some story progression. :D And as things stand right now, there isn't much in the way of sex scenes yet besides generally knowing where they should fall, so that will up the count as well.
So the BB's looking much more doable now, although I didn't get something done for my boss.
But you know? I can't spend seven days a week working for months on end; and having a job (which I do appreciate having) doesn't mean I completely surrender my life (in which I still have the broken foot, and actually just moved as well) in order to complete tasks when we've all been signed up for waaaay too much with no say in the matter.
...Wow, that sounds like I'm unloading a bit there, LOL.
And thanks for the answers to my literary question; I'll reply when the netbook isn't trying to blow up from being overloaded with script requests, LOL.

Date: 2012-05-15 11:58 am (UTC)Journey: thousand steps, starting, etc. :D
The 152 will fit in, in that chapter you'll end up writing to explore a plot point you put in there in a few weeks. (Remember that? LOL)

Date: 2012-05-15 12:06 pm (UTC)As to progress, there has been none. I keep changing my mind as to what to write and not actually getting on with any of it :( What I have been doing is watching 'Queer as Folk' on YouTube from the official 4odDrama channel. What do you mean 1999 Manchester isn't research? It could be!

That is fantastic and I just know it is well and truly doable :D.

I know whatever you decide on will be great, you'll get that inspiration and then the words will flow.
And I say it is most definitely research *grins*.
